Entering into a contract to protect a key habitat
Compensation of private forest owners for damage and costs caused by restrictions on forest use.
A key habitat is an area where the probability of the occurrence of narrowly adapted, endangered, vulnerable or rare species is high. This is an area located outside of a protected natural site. In order to protect such an area, the owner of a private forest can sign a contract with the EIC, which will compensate the damage and costs caused by the restrictions on forest use.
Grants are awarded in Estonian and more information can be found on the EIC website here.
