    The application round of the environmental programme of the Foundation Environmental Investment Centre (EIC) for forestry and the protection of atmospheric air received 13 project applications in the total sum of 349,717 euros.

    Today, on 28 August at 1 PM, the renovated area of Keila railway station along with the accompanying cycle and pedestrian tracks and car parks will be opened in Keila. The total cost of the project is 983,417 euros, to which the state provides 681,055 euros from the resources of the European Cohesion Fund through the Environmental Investment Centre (EIC).

    The state-owned foundation Environmental Investment Centre (EIC) supports the reconstruction and expansion of the water management infrastructure of Kroodi creek near Maardu with 4,246,810 euros from the Cohesion Fund to which the beneficiary, OÜ Kroodi Vesi, will add another 637,021 euros. As a result of the works, the environmental risks related to Kroodi creek have been managed for time to come.

    The state-owned foundation Environmental Investment Centre (EIC) is providing EUR 2.23 million in support for the construction of 12 filling stations that will offer bio-methane fuelling capability.  The financial support will be allocated from the European Union Cohesion Fund.

    The Supervisory Board of the Environmental Investments Centre decided to support 728 projects from the environmental programme in the amount of EUR 20,317,062. Projects from ten fields across Estonia will be supported. Also, Siim Kiisler, the Minister of the Environment, was appointed the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EIC.

    Through Foundation Environmental Investments Centre (EIC), the state will support 22 street lighting renovation projects with a total of EUR 9,952,992, to which the realisers of the projects will add EUR 5,384,540 in self-financing. The grant is being financed from the European Union Cohesion Fund.

    Yesterday evening, on 24 May, during the finals of the students' energy and resource saving contest Negavatt, organised by the Environmental Investments Centre (EIC), the three best projects were selected, the leaders of which received EUR 10,000 to realise their idea.

    The EIC called on voters to cast their votes for the best environmental projects. As a result of a week-long public poll, winners were announced in all fifteen counties. The 75 environmental projects submitted for the competition received a total of 2,674 votes on the EIC’s Facebook page. Projects from different fields are represented: from big railway infrastructure and water management projects to school study programmes, which the state funded through the EIC.

    At its 27 April meeting, the Supervisory Board of the Environmental Investment Centre (EIC) decided that the decisions concerning the 1st application round for the 2017 Environmental Programme would be approved at its meeting in June. The meeting had originally been planned for May; however, it is now clear that more time is needed to allow for the substantive assessment of projects. The EIC’s Supervisory Board meeting is scheduled to take place in the second week of June.
